Shipping Policy

All orders are shipped from France via airmail. Once your order is confirmed, we typically dispatch it within 3–6 business days. Please note that if your order is placed during weekends (Saturday and Sunday) or French public holidays, processing and shipping may be delayed.

The estimated delivery time is usually 7–10 days from the shipping date. Delivery times may vary depending on the season, with possible delays during peak periods such as the Christmas season.

All sales are final. As products are shipped directly from France, we do not accept returns or cancellations for standard (change-of-mind) reasons. Import Duties and Taxes

A temporary 10% import surcharge currently applies to all goods imported into the United States from France, under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974 (effective February 24, 2026). This surcharge is scheduled to expire on July 24, 2026, unless extended or modified by Congress.

Please also note that the standard USD $800 de minimis exemption (which previously allowed low-value personal imports to enter duty-free) is currently suspended. Import charges may therefore apply regardless of order value.

Under current rules, customers can expect to pay approximately 10% of the CIF value (cost of goods + shipping + insurance) in import charges upon delivery. As packages are shipped via the postal network (La Poste / USPS), the U.S. Postal Service also charges a Customs Clearance and Delivery Fee of about US$9.35 per dutiable parcel when collecting these charges at delivery. This fee is a flat amount per parcel, so combining several items into one order helps reduce the per-item cost. All such charges are the responsibility of the recipient.

Returns and Cancellation

If a package is uncollected and returned to us or disposed of by the postal service due to an incorrect address, refusal of delivery, or expiration of the holding period, a refund will not be issued.

If a package is returned due to refusal of delivery, extended absence, or non-collection, the customer will be responsible for the following costs:

  • Actual round-trip shipping costs
  • Refund processing fees
  • A return handling fee of US$ 10

Delivery Policy (Japan)

Customs & duties at a glance: Cosmetics are duty-free (maximum 24 items per product category). Japanese consumption tax (10%) applies only if the CIF value exceeds about JPY 16,667 (taxable base over ¥10,000 under the 60% rule). When tax applies, Japan Post adds a handling fee of ¥200 per item. Any duties or tax incurred are the responsibility of the customer.

Delivery to Japan – Customs Duties and Import Restrictions

Consumption Tax and Customs Duty Threshold
For personal imports into Japan, if the CIF value (product price + international shipping + insurance) exceeds JPY 16,667, Japanese consumption tax (10%) will apply. This is based on Japan Customs' simplified valuation method, where the taxable base is calculated as 60% of the CIF value (60% × JPY 16,667 ≈ JPY 10,000).

Any customs duties and consumption tax incurred are the responsibility of the customer.

Cosmetics (including skincare, makeup, shampoo, and conditioner)
Cosmetic products are not subject to customs duties. However, under Japanese Customs regulations, the maximum allowance for personal imports is 24 items per product category. If this limit is exceeded, customs clearance will not be granted and the products may be returned or disposed of. Please note that refunds cannot be issued in such cases.

Honey
Raw honey can be imported for personal use. However, if the total order value exceeds the duty-free allowance (approximately ¥15,500), a 50% customs duty will apply. Please also note that quarantine inspections may cause additional delays beyond the standard delivery schedule.

Sugar and Sweeteners (including maple syrup, agave nectar, etc.)
If the total weight of sugar or sweeteners exceeds 1 kg, customs duties and other taxes will apply. Shipments over 1 kg may also require additional documentation, which can result in longer customs clearance times.

Confectionery (Cookies, Chocolate, Snacks, etc.)
Confectionery items can be imported for personal use. However, if the quantity is deemed excessive, customs may classify the shipment as commercial use, which can result in seizure. Confectionery is generally subject to around 10% customs duty, though if the calculated duty is less than JPY 1,000, it will be exempt. If the CIF value exceeds JPY 16,667, Japan's consumption tax (10%) will also apply.

Tea (Green Tea, Black Tea, Herbal Tea, etc.)
Green tea (unfermented) is generally duty-free. Black tea may be subject to 3–17% customs duty depending on the type and form; however, if the calculated duty is less than JPY 1,000, it will be exempt. Herbal tea may be treated as a food product depending on its ingredients and can be subject to customs duties. In all cases, if the CIF value exceeds JPY 16,667, Japan's consumption tax (10%) will apply.

Customs Clearance
Orders containing the above items may take longer than usual to clear customs. Depending on customs decisions, items may be seized or returned without refund.

Customs Handling Fee
When customs duty or consumption tax is assessed, Japan Post charges a handling fee of ¥200 per item (subject to change). Orders within the duty-free threshold are not charged this fee.

Returns and Cancellation

Please note that in Japan, if a package is not collected within 7 days after the first delivery attempt, it will automatically be returned to the sender. Regardless of whether a delivery notice is left, customers are responsible for checking the tracking information and ensuring timely receipt of their orders.

If a package is returned or disposed of, a refund will not be issued.

If a package is returned due to refusal of delivery, extended absence, or non-collection, the customer will be responsible for the following costs:

Customs & duties at a glance: Under CETA, French cosmetics are generally duty-free (0%). Canadian sales tax (GST/HST/PST, 5–15% depending on province) applies to all imported goods; orders of CA$20 or less sent via Canada Post are generally exempt. When tax applies, Canada Post adds a handling fee of CA$9.95 per item. These charges are the responsibility of the recipient.

GST and Import Duties

As France is a member of the European Union covered by the Canada–EU Free Trade Agreement (CETA), import duty on your order is generally 0%. For shipments valued under CAD $3,300, no formal Certificate of Origin is required — EU origin is confirmed by a simple statement on the shipping invoice. For higher-value shipments, additional documentation may be required to claim the preferential rate.

In addition to any customs duty, Canadian sales tax applies to all imported goods. The rate depends on your province or territory:

GST and Import Duties

Under Singapore's Overseas Vendor Registration (OVR) regime, 9% GST applies to all imported goods, regardless of order value:

  • Orders of SGD $400 or less: GST-registered overseas sellers are required to collect 9% GST at checkout. If the seller is not GST-registered under OVR, GST may instead be collected upon delivery by the carrier.
  • Orders above SGD $400: 9% GST is generally collected at import by the carrier on behalf of Singapore Customs.

GST is calculated on the CIF value (cost of goods + shipping + insurance). When GST or duty is collected at import (generally for orders above SGD $400), SingPost charges a handling fee of S$10.90 per consignment (subject to change). Orders of SGD $400 or less usually qualify for GST relief, in which case no handling fee applies. All such charges are the responsibility of the recipient.

Personal imports into South Korea with a total customs value (including shipping and insurance) of USD $150 or less are generally exempt from customs duties and VAT.

Customs & duties at a glance: 20% import VAT applies and may be collected on delivery, including for orders of £135 or less. Orders above £135 may also incur customs duty. When charges are collected on delivery, Royal Mail adds a handling fee of £8 per item. We deliver to England only. These charges are the responsibility of the customer.

Import VAT and Customs Duties

As we are not UK VAT-registered, VAT is not collected at checkout. All shipments are sent from France, and import VAT is assessed by UK customs or the delivery carrier upon arrival.

The following charges may apply depending on your order value:

  • Orders of £135 or less: Import VAT of 20% may be collected upon delivery by Royal Mail or the carrier. No customs duty applies below this threshold.
  • Orders above £135: Import VAT (20%) and, where applicable, customs duties may be charged by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) or the delivery carrier. Most personal-use cosmetics are typically low-duty or duty-free, but this cannot be guaranteed.

Import charges are calculated on the CIF value (cost of goods + shipping + insurance). When VAT or duty is collected on delivery, Royal Mail charges a handling fee of £8 per item (subject to change). All such charges are the responsibility of the customer.

Returns and Cancellation

If a package is uncollected and returned to us or disposed of by the postal service due to an incorrect address, refusal of delivery, or expiration of the holding period, a refund will not be issued.

If a package is returned due to refusal of delivery, extended absence, or non-collection, the customer will be responsible for the following costs:

  • Actual round-trip shipping costs
  • Refund processing fees
  • A return handling fee of US$ 10

Delivery Policy (Taiwan)

Customs & duties at a glance: Imports of NT$2,000 or less are generally exempt. Above that, 0–10% customs duty plus 5% VAT apply on the CIF value. A limit of 6 duty-free shipments per half-year also applies. Please note that glass ampoule cosmetics are restricted for import into Taiwan by post (see below). Any charges are the responsibility of the recipient.

All orders are shipped from France via airmail. Once your order is confirmed, we typically dispatch your package within 3–6 business days. Please note that orders placed on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) or during French public holidays may experience slight delays in processing and shipping.

For environmental considerations, Cosme de Paris does not include paper invoices in our packages. Please check your order details in your account dashboard or in your order confirmation email.

Customs Duties and Taxes

Imports into Taiwan with a customs value of NT$2,000 (approx. US$65) or less are generally exempt from customs duties and VAT.

For shipments exceeding NT$2,000, the following charges may apply, calculated on the CIF value (cost of goods + shipping + insurance):

  • Customs duty: Typically 0–10% depending on product classification (cosmetics generally fall within this range)
  • VAT (Business Tax): 5%

Please also note that Taiwan Customs limits duty-free imports to 6 shipments per half-year period (January–June and July–December). From the 7th shipment onward within the same period, duties and taxes may apply regardless of order value.

Glass ampoule cosmetics: Under Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) regulations, glass ampoule cosmetics are subject to import restrictions and may be held, returned, or disposed of by customs when imported by post. If you are ordering this type of product, please confirm the applicable rules with the relevant authorities in advance. In the event that a shipment is returned or disposed of due to these restrictions, a refund cannot be issued.
